Americans put in a lot of hours on the job. On average, U.S. workers clock 1,796 hours a year, which is 179 more than employees in Japan, 284 more than those in the U.K., and a striking 465 more than workers in Germany. And in today’s world, remote work hasn’t exactly slowed things down. In many cases, it’s blurred the boundaries between work and home even more, stretching the workday longer than ever.
While we all work hard, there are people in some cities that work even harder. WalletHub just dropped a ranking of the hardest-working cities in the country. They analyzed 116 of the largest U.S. cities across a number of factors including employment rate, average weekly hours worked, average commute time, numbers of workers with multiple jobs, share of workers leaving vacation time unused, and average leisure time per day. According to the research, the hardest-working city in the country is Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Here are the Top 5 Hardest-Working Cities:
Cheyenne, Wyoming
Anchorage, Alaska
Washington, D.C.
Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Irving, Texas
On the other end of the scale, the least hardworking state is Burlington, Vermont, followed by Detroit, Michigan, and Buffalo, New York.

Levi Strauss Day: A day to celebrate the man who invented jeans. Fun fact: Levi's weren't called "jeans" until the 1950s. Jeans used to be called "overalls," which was the old name for workwear. But after James Dean wore them in Rebel Without a Cause, they became hugely popular. Young people wanted another name for "overalls," though, since that was a word their parents used. So, they started calling them jeans.

The manager of a Whataburger restaurant in Paris, Texas took "taking out the trash" to a brutal new level earlier this week.
Police say a customer, identified as 41-year-old Anthony Newhuis, allegedly harassed employees, left the restaurant, then came back intoxicated and ready for a fight. According to police, staff had already asked Newhuis to leave earlier in the night. As he walked out, he reportedly promised he’d return once officers were gone. And that’s exactly what happened. Moments later, he burst back inside and allegedly attacked the manager. That’s when things escalated. Viral video shows the manager grabbing the nearest thing at hand -- a trash can -- and slamming it on Newhuis. Police later found him in the back parking lot with a head injury. He was arrested on charges including assault causing bodily injury, public intoxication, and criminal mischief. Officers say the trouble didn’t stop there. Newhuis allegedly caused more damage once in custody, adding another charge to the list. (WFAA-TV Dallas-Fort Worth)
